Lambrusco

Name: is related to the wild vine the "labrusca", the one that grows on the edges of fields. More accurately, it is a collective term for a group of grape varieties more than 60 Lambrusco varieties have been identified so far.
Origin: based on some fossils, this grapevine was known since 4,000 years ago in the central part of Italy.

Where is cultivated: the main region is Emilia-Romagna, but it is cultivated also in other northern italian region. Outside Italy, it has been successfully cultivated in Argentina and more recently, in Australia.

Lambrusco Wine description

Lambrusco Salamino, with compact and cylindrical clusters, resembling the shape of a salami
Color: deep ruby color, purple-edged froth
Flavor: delicate bouquet and refreshing fruitiness.

Lambrusco Maestri, named form the "Villa Maestri" in the province of Parma.
Color: intense purplish red
Flavor: neutral

Lambrusco Marani
Color: bright ruby
Flavor: little red fruits. Flowers.

Acidity: high
Tannins: quite high
Ageability: to be drunk young
Personality: fizzy, friendly
Wines from Lambrusco: sparkling red wines with different level of residual sugar.
