Lords of drinks in history

Lords of drinks in history

Everybody knows about James Bond's passion for martini and how he preferes it, "shaken not stirred". Sure James Bond isn't real but in history there were some great men and women who were able to carry notoriety in one hand and a drink in the other, like James Bond does.

The incredible stories of these people will be remembered forever. Here is a list of few of them.

Cleopatra
She was the last Egyptian pharaoh. She was a heavy wine drinker and she loved to bathe in wine to rejuvenate her skin, like we do nowadays in the wine spa! The legends says that she had a pearl dissolve in her wine glass and drunk it.

Napoleon
He was the emperor of France and he was quite fond on Champagne. His famous quote states: "In victory, you deserve Champagne; in defeat you need it". Some newly released records showed that his daily ratio, while imprisoned in Saint Helena island, included one bottle of Champagne.

Ernest Hemingway
He wrote some of the finest books on Earth and won a Nobel prize for literature in 1954. Hemingway is credited with the invention or popularization of several cocktails and he also brought attention to some of the most famous cocktail bars in the world today.

Wiston Churchill
He spent his entire professional life in the service of the British Empire. Despite the fact he was a heavy drinker, he faced the largest and most sophisticated military the world had ever seen in Worl War II, he emboldened and united the British people, managed the emergent alliance between the UK, US, and Russia. All of that under his motto “I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me.”
