Wine Journal: Dolcetto d'Alba DOC Baroni delle Casate

This tasting note is about a great Piedmont wine, not as famous as his bigger brothers made from Nebbiolo grapes, Barolo and Barbaresco. We are talking about Dolcetto d'Alba enjoyable wine that will fit right in with any variety of occasions.

Dolcetto d'Alba DOC Baroni delle Casate is a truly unique dolcetto, made with 100% dolcetto grapes. The grapes come from a middle hill with very calcareous soils known as the "white soils".The grapes are hand harvested and selected before crushing. After the traditional vinification the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for a short period.
Tasting notes in few words
Color. Red with violaceous reflections, intense.
Aroma. Vinous, intense and delicate.
Taste. Soft, moderately acid and pleasantly fruity with an almond aftertaste.
Its easygoing character makes dolcetto an everyday wine. In Italy especially in Piedmont, it is a fixture at daily dinner tables and for entertaining friends.
